Coming Home by Cathy Nichols.
If people have to choose between freedom and sandwiches, they will choose sandwiches.
Sir John Boyd Orr
First there is a mountain. Then there is no mountain. Finally, there is a mountain.
Chinese saying
Men go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
Henry David Thoreau
What do the quotes have in common? Simple. What do you really want?
When you go past all the things you believe you must have and the mountains you must climb, you will come to a place where none of these things matter. You will return home, to who and what you have always been, to your true nature.
It is something that we all have in common – that longing to return ‘home’ – even though we may not recognize it.
Does that mean that we should give up our pursuits? Forget about engaging in creative work? Live austerely?
Not at all. Returning home is about returning to all that we are – limitless, creative, joyous and free! But, it’s important that we don’t confuse our nature with the things we create, accomplish or acquire. As Carlos Castaneda said:
The wise man acts as if everything matters but knows that nothing does.
So, be free, live fully and return to your limitlessness which is forever more!
