Here is a hypothetical scenario to ponder:

You have been living a somewhat modest life.  You have an adequate income, nothing extraordinary but certainly sufficient for all your basic needs.  Every now and again, however, you may have to scrimp and save especially if you want something ‘exceptional‘ like a six-week holiday in eastern Europe or an energy-efficient hybrid Honda or a …you fill the blanks.

Your relationships are also going reasonably well.  Like all relationships they experience fluctuations in the degree of satisfaction, interest and meaning or purposefulness they offer but by and large you feel no great need for change.  When there are difficulties or strains, you somehow get through them eventually without too much personal damage.

Even your career or work life is kicking along just fine.  You do what needs to be done, you get paid for it, you generally get on well with your colleagues and your boss.  Perhaps you are the boss and feel that things are mostly working well for you and your staff.

When it comes to weekends and time off, you are resigned to fulfilling your domestic obligations, performing them as a matter of routine.  It’s what you do to keep things in order so that they don’t get out of control.  Occasionally, you are inspired to do something a little ‘different’ as well – take a drive down an unexplored part of your suburb, get together with friends for a barbecue or go with your partner to a concert.

All in all, life is pretty alright.  Nothing flash but neither does it cry out in desperation, certainly not enough to force change, well, at least  not until a  suggestion pops up, either spontaneously in your mind or as a result of something you’ve read or been asked.  Here is the suggestion:

If you were guaranteed that your life could change dramatically, no less than 100% for the better such that the life you are currently living would seem like a very poor imitation of what life for you is truly meant to be, would you accept the offer?  Yes or No?

And if you were to say, ‘Yes, but what is the catch?’ you would be told:

There is no ‘catch’, at least none insofar as any devious plan to trick you.  However, there is a condition and here it is:  You will have to go through a period of change where things might feel uncomfortable, painful even.  But once you accept that period of change, you will have the life you are truly capable of having – abundance in every form you desire, inspiring work and relationships, an invigorating sense of purpose and a true and lasting sense of freedom, peace and joy that no one and no thing can ever take away from you.

What would your answer be?  Would you say Yes or No?
